ABOUT SC CHAMBERS SHIP BROKERS

Founded in 1887 as Ships Agents, SC Chambers & Co. represented some of the historic names in shipping out of its Liverpool headquarters, including such prestigious names as T& J Harrison, Cunard and The Isle of Man Steam Packet. In the late 1950’s, we decided to refocus and develop our Sale & Purchase activities to the extent that we now have an established international reputation for both exclusive and competitive broking, offering a global sale and marketing facility and an extensive bespoke vessel database of new and second-hand ships.
Experience, understanding and an historical connection to the industry are important factors when choosing the right company for you to do business through. We understand that at SC Chambers & Co. but we also understand that at a basic level there are certain requirements you are looking for, depending on whether you are selling or buying a vessel. Let’s break it down into the fundamental stages. A shipbroker will act as an intermediary between two parties to initiate and complete the purchase and/or sale of a vessel. How does this work depending on which side of the transaction you are on? Buying a Vessel For buyers the most obvious consideration is a good choice of vessel depending on their budget.

SC CHAMBERS IS ONE OF THE MOST HISTORIC NAMES
OFFERING GLOBAL SALE AND MARKETING

Our team will liaise with the client and evaluate their purchase budget and requirements before carefully proposing a list of suitable vessels that fit all criteria and are openly available for purchase. It’s important to understand that we have a relationship with a vast network of owners & managers across the world, and therefore have access to private ‘off market’ tonnage should that also be a requirement. Once a ship is identified we will assist you with a price guide, inspections of both vessel and records and help put together a draft offer of purchase. We are available for advice throughout the purchasing process and available to represent you at the closing handover. We also offer our clients a full post-sale service. Selling a Vessel For sellers the most important starting point is an appraisal of your vessel and putting together a price that is a fair reflection of the vessel itself within the current market. Our team can provide a detailed analysis of your vessel and add insight into market prices and ship presentation to maximise your potential to sell. Upon instruction we’ll then put together a sales plan that is right for your vessel and targets a list of global potential purchasers. We are there by your side, if required, throughout the entire sales process and beyond, offering a post-sales service to deal with any matters that might need resolving.

The historical aspect of our company and its connections with one of the most important maritime cities in the world, Liverpool, cannot be overlooked. It does of course provide us with the prestige that we feel our expertise and professionalism deserve. Of course, what matters most, however, is the way we treat our clients. Each and every client, whether a long-term or brand new relationship deserves to be treated the same way, with respect for them and their project. We deliver that with a dedicated brokerage team who not only have the experience and knowledge of the current market trends and opportunities, but also have the high level of professionalism to go that extra mile to deliver the best outcome, whether it is a sale or a purchase. Give us a call today to find out how our team can help you reach your destination.
